Data Center
I want to be clear. I am not against Data Centers. After 37 ½ years working as a field service technician with several IT companies, I understand the importance they provide to make our lives easier to manage. Banking, Healthcare, Internet access plus content and so much more. I’ve serviced computer equipment in many very large data centers here in North Carolina, Virginia and California.
I also understand the National Security implications if our nation does not lead the world in AI development. I would encourage everyone to research what AI (Artificial Intelligence), AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence) are and how it affects our ability to protect our Nation against adversaries such as China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, etc.
I am unapologetic about my love for the United States of America. We are the greatest nation to have ever existed. We’ve done more good for the world than any other nation in history.
It is imperative, that for our nation to survive, we must lead our adversaries in AI as we have in the past with technology.
With that said, I also want to be clear that a new data center should not be built in Chatham County Districts 4 or 5. Districts 1,2 and 3 have been experiencing massive growth both in large businesses and population. Districts 4 and 5 are the only rural areas left where people can live and raise a family in a country setting. Also, a place where people can visit and enjoy the uncrowded open spaces. Purchase products from local farmers. People that are welcoming and friendly. We are rich in natural resources and must keep outside influence from exploiting our land and environment for quick financial gain. One would think our “Green Agenda” driven current board of commissioner members would understand this. After all, they just approved $$$$$$$ of our tax dollars on an environmental impact study for FY2027. And more is budgeted over the next several years. Add to that, a moratorium for a one year delay was put on the data center project due to drought conditions.
Is it really about the environment, or is it about control and rewarding their “Green” friends? Are the BOC members more interested in future political office or possible employment with the corporations and their cronies or the people they are supposed to serve and represent as citizens? Might it be the land is cheaper here and they think we’re too ignorant to understand what’s happening? Taxing us to the point where we can’t afford to live here any longer? Perhaps a gradual change of culture/ way of life they don’t agree with for something more liberal (See DEI tab)? In my opinion, it’s all of the above.
I ask you to please ignore party affiliation and consider who has your best interests in mind. These people do not, in anyway, represent the JFK democrat party.
It’s Not too Late to save Chatham County!
